after a very decent breajpkfast at the Royal Glen hotel I set off to drive to Seaton. I parked the car and wen t to the B and B, rang the bell, got no reply, rang again, same response, so phoned. The landlady replied and I explained that I was outside wanting to park my car somewhere safe for the day. She did not even come out to greet me, up just said I could not leave it where I was parked as that was one hour only then directed me to a pay and display car park.
I set off from Seaton just before10am and met up with J and K at Brancombe at 11:30. We had coffee and shared a cream tea between us before setting off back to Seaton, via Beer and Beer Head. The coastal scenery was spectacular, especially the contrast between the red cliffs towards Sidmouth and the white chalk of Seaton. We had to call in to the pub at Beer (extremely picturesque village) but we drank soft drinks (honest) as it was so hot.
We got back to Seaton at exactly 3pm, checked into our B and B - why do they always put us up in the attic where it is hot and the headroom restricted! We have 2 rooms with a shared bathroom - the bath is quite small and difficult to get into and out of as it is half under the eaves - Kevin went and asked if he could use the shower in one of the empty rooms as he does not like a bath and felt he would have difficulty getting out of it after walking the 10 very strenuous miles from Sidmouth.
The terrain today was very, very hilly, with one high cliff after another - going right down to sea level each time before ascending to the next cliff top - but the views were spectacular!
We walked round the town, had a look in a few shops and the tramway, then went for a meal (on,y one pub actually serving food at 5pm) then returned to our B and B. I am sure we will all be fast asleep by 8pm!
