Exmouth to Sidmouth

I could not get on line yesterday, despite being in a "proper hotel" in the busy town of Sidmouth, so I am writing this on Friday night, from memory!

I dropped Julia and Kevin off near the ferry at Exmouth (well , about .25 of a mile further along their route!) then I drove to Sidmouth, found our hotel, dropped the bags off then headed off to find a bus to take me back to Budleigh Salterton to meet them. The bus arrived on time at 9:45 (I had waited 30 minutes for it) and we set off.......again most of the passengers were OAPs! The journey took 40 minutes and by the time I got off I felt as sick as a dog! I then walked down the high street and all along the beach looking for Julia and Kevin, not realising that they had ducked into a cafe to avoid me!!! However, my radar found them in the cafe and I had a cold drink to settle my churning stomach before we headed to the pasty shop for Kevin's fix of beef and veg pasty. Julia and I opted for quiche and we were eating it overlooking the beach when Kevin yelled "Stop"!!! He had seen that the quiche contained ham! The seagulls had a great lunch that day.

Julia and Kevin had gone into the Information Centre to ask if there was a cafe on the seafront so they could watch out for me but were told there wasn't one.  I walked to one such cafe and when we began our walk we went past 2 cafes on the beach!

On the western end of the beach were several pictures made from different  pebbles:

The walk from Budleigh to Sidmouth was very pleasant and out hotel was very close to the beach. After a shower we set out to look round the shops.  The signs for town centre took us a long way round, whereas we could just have walked a few yards along the beach!  Anyway, we had a nice meal then walked back to the hotel and had a drink in the gardens there, with a sea view.  We were still in bed before 9pm and we all slept well.
