Welcome to London?

What a fiasco we Brits make out of managing a problem! Julia and Kevin were late taking off from Zurich because their plane developed an oil leak. Heathrow closed for 2 hrs because of a fire in an empty plane being towed on a remote part of the airfield. Baggage handlers at terminal 5 only work till 11:30, which is when the last flight normally arrives. Their flight had to wait on the tarmac for an hour after landing for a gate to disembark passengers - so by the time they got to baggage reclaim there was chaos with hundreds of people wanting bags which were not being off loaded from planes as there was no one to do it! They should have arrived at 8.20pm. They finally came through at 3am without luggage and we had to find a hotel to get a couple of hours sleep before returning for bags once staff came to back work. There was no information given out at any time, so I was unaware what was going on and J & K were in same position. At 3 am we left airport to find a hotel. We stumbled on a Travelodge and by 3:30 Kevin had downed a pint and was snoring in bed.
We were back at the airport by 8:30 where J&K collected their bags from among hundreds of other bags lined up in rows in the baggage hall. Again there was no information given out - we had to go to lost property to find out what to do.
We arrived in Bristol in time for lunch with Mike and Jean then set off for Tintagel with a detour to drop off Amber's quilt at the quilter's and arrived at our B&B just after 6pm SHATTERED! After a stroll to the pub for food and a welcome bevvy or 2, we were in bed by 9!!! Now it is a glorious, cloudless morning for the first day of our walk. Everything MUST go right from here, surely?
